In COVID-19

Attn: All Wisconsin Nursing Homes and Assisted Living Facilities

The Division of Quality Assurance (DQA) has published updated Guidance for Providing On-Site Hair Salon and Barber Services in Nursing Homes and Assisted Living Facilities. Based on comments received from nursing homes and assisted living facilities, DQA has updated this guidance to allow a cosmetologist, who provides on-site salon services in a facility, to provide salon services at one other salon, in addition to the facility. The other salon services provided by the cosmetologist may be provided in the cosmologist’s residence or in a public salon. The previous guidance limited the cosmetologist to providing services only at the facility.

The updated guidance broadens a facility’s ability to provide salon services to their residents while continuing to control and prevent the spread of COVID-19. Facilities are reminded to review their infection control procedures related to the management of safe salon services and to implement an ongoing facility monitoring system to review compliance with facility policies and procedures for salon services.

Please see the Nursing Home and Assisted Living webpages for additional COVID-19 guidance specific to provider type.
