ABOUT THE EVENT

The Advanced Healthcare Construction Certificate is a one-day seminar designed for contractors and anyone within healthcare that manages construction or larger repair projects. This class will provide information on water management for construction, advance ICRA training, advanced ILSM training, barriers during construction, building challenging firewalls, and  standards for safeguarding construction, alteration, and demo operations.

PRESENTERS

Jeff Eckstein, AIA, ASHE, J.H. Findorff & Son, Inc., Director of Business Development, Healthcare.
Jeff is a registered architect, has worked in facility planning for 2 major healthcare systems and has over 30 year’s experience in healthcare planning, design, and construction. He is also Co-Chair of the WHEA Code Committee and is the recipient of the WHEA Robert H Botts Healthcare Engineering Pioneer Award and WHEA Founders Award for Outstanding Service.

David R. Soens, PE, RA, Life Safety Fire Authority, Division of Quality Assurance
Dave is the Departments Fire Authority to Centers for Medicare and Medicaid Services for Life Safety. He is the physical environment technical consultant for acute care, long-term care, and assisted living programs. Dave assists various committees to improve code alignment through ASHE, NFPA, and WHEA. Lastly, his 23 years of experience assist waiver and variance requests for unique building configurations.

Marilyn Michels, MSN, RN, CRRN, CIC, FAPIC
Marilyn has worked in infection control for over 40 years in various settings. She is currently an infection preventionist at Gundersen Health System in La Crosse Wisconsin. She has presented on numerous topics related to infection prevention and developed an orientation program for infection preventionists that was introduced to numerous health care facilities across the state. She has responded to numerous events related to construction and renovation through the years. She has witnessed the impact the health care environment has on a patient’s risk for developing an infection due to poor planning, design, execution and maintenance.

Rick Helfrich, CHFM, CHC, Plant and Facilities Project Manager for SSM Health Fond du Lac Region.
Rick is currently on the WHEA State Board as WHEA Codes & Standards Committee Chair, serves as the WHEA ASHE Advocacy Liaison,  a past WHEA President, and has over 20 years of experience in the facilities healthcare setting.

Melissa (Missy) Cain, Planning Principal, HGA Architects and Engineers.

Missy has worked in the field of healthcare water management for nearly 20 years, holding client management and technical leadership positions. In her role with HGA, Missy is focused on developing transformative strategies to improve building water quality and safety during the design, construction, and renovation phases of a building. She is committed to integrating robust risk management methods, cutting-edge scientific research, and innovative water technologies to address critical water safety and efficiency challenges. She partners with organizations to support the transition from construction to ongoing operations, helping facilities deliver a safe and defensible water system on day one.

PLEASE NOTE NEW CANCELLATION TERMS: A fee of $50 will be charged to any cancellation made 1 week before the program date. No refunds will be issued for cancellations made within 24 hours of the event.  If the program is cancelled for any reason, refund is limited to the program fee.
